Local Long-Term Care Ombudsman receive, investigate, and resolve complaints made by or on behalf of residents of long-term care. Complaints span a wide range of issues including; wrongful discharges, resident rights, and elder abuse.
In 2017 local Long-Term Care Ombudsman received, investigated, and resolved 41,834 complaints made by or on behalf of the 304,000 residents. Sadly nearly 20% of complaints investigated are coded under the category of Elder Abuse; physical, sexual, financial, verbal, and emotional.
